| | 14/07/2004 | Specialist status for Conyers School
STAFF, Students and Governors at Conyers School, Green Lane, Yarm are delighted at being awarded the prestigious specialist status for Maths and Computing.
To achieve the status, the school, which has 1,375 11-18 year old students, has devised a four year development plan and raised more than £50,000 including a major sponsorship from Oracle, the world’s leading supplier of software for information management.
The status will enable the school to develop particular expertise in the teaching and learning of mathematics, computing and ICT. This will be shared across the community of Stockton secondary schools, partner primary schools and will provide new opportunities for community learning.
John Morgan, Head Teacher at Conyers School, said: “We are delighted to become Stockton’s Maths and Computing Specialist College and are looking forward to providing an innovative lead in teaching and learning in these most important subjects.
“A huge amount of hard work by staff and students has been rewarded and we will be using the extra money to enhance the education opportunities not only for our own students, but for the wider community.” | | 01/04/2004 | Use this section to provide details of local news items, especially those that aren't covered elsewhere.
